That seems to have been fixed since. If you still have the issue it
might be due to local settings (like font customization), in which case
please reopen and provide details on your configuration

  usability issues with unity - the text on the bottom line of dash is
  hidden

Bug description:
  the dash window (that appears next to the ubuntu icon) is always a few
  pixels too small to show the names underneath the icons on the last of
  the three panels. There is plenty of wasted space on this window - why
  not use some of it so that you don't routinely need to scroll the
  window
