[Bug 135789] Re: Shift Switcher: Odd re-focus behaviour switching between different windows spanning different desktops

The compiz program that we currently use in Ubuntu is a C++ re-write of
the original compiz and was announced the 4th July 2010. Therefore, the
bugs that were reported before that date, will be marked as "Won't Fix"
as they probably exist in the original program which is not stored in
launchpad.

** No longer affects: compiz

** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu)
       Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix

Title:
Shift Switcher: Odd re-focus behaviour switching between different
  windows spanning different desktops

Status in NULL Project:
  Invalid
Status in compiz package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
Current CF version (from the Treviño repository):

  compiz 1:0.5.5~git20070828=3v1ubuntu0 (feisty)

  compiz-fusion-plugins-main 0.5.2~git20070828=3v1ubuntu0 (feisty)

I am currently using the gconf backend.

  Following these steps:

  1. Open any window/app on a new viewport/desktop and then switch to a
another new viewport/desktop and open another window. So basically you
have two windows open (perferably different windows/apps so you can
differentiate between the two) on 2 different viewports/desktops.

  2. Now initiate the Shift Switcher for all windows (I'm using the
Super+Alt+Tab combo) and switch between the two windows. Upon
selection (releasing Super+Alt+Tab) there is a nasty "screen jump" on
re-focus that implies the wrong desktop is regaining focus before the
correct desktop/window is displayed (during the re-focus animation).

After a clean install to the latest GIT update (from the Terviño
repo), I'm still (oddly enough) getting this issue with Shift
  Switcher.

I'm trying to establish if this is localized to my install or if it is
  more wide-spread.

Let me know if you need any more information.

  Thanks again.
