[Bug 1476265] Re: Arabic spelling suggestions appear as square characters

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1344996 ***
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1344996

Same root cause as bug 1344996. Unless a fix in LibreOffice arrives
sooner, this won’t be an issue anymore as the Arabic Ubuntu font support
arrives (which is soon!)

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1344996
LibreOffice shows squares when the UI font does not support certain characters. It does not fallback to other fonts like the rest of apps.

Title:
Arabic spelling suggestions appear as square characters

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Libreoffice PPA https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
  Version: 4.4.4.3
  Build ID: 40m0(Build:3)
  Locale: en_GB.UTF-8
  Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

When writing in Arabic in Writer, spelling suggestions appear as
square characters. For example, when writing the first letters of a
weekday (السبت), a small pop-up which have square characters appears.
When I press Enter, the weekday is inserted correctly.

So, I believe that Writer correctly recognises Arabic words but only
fails to display them properly. Probably an encoding problem with
  displaying these pop-up spelling suggestions.

It also happens in the auto-complete pop-up.

It also happens in the Undo tooltips. When the mouse pointer is on the
Undo icon, the tooltip appears as square characters instead of the
  Arabic word.
