  natural logarithm: ln(0.5) does not work

Bug description:
  When i type ln(0.5) in the calculator it just says:
   *** ERROR OCCURRED IN LNS, NEWTON ITERATION NOT CONVERGING PROPERLY ***

  This is for version 3.14.1 in ubuntu 15.04
