[Bug 1310170] Re: fglrx DRI initialization fails on Radeon HD 7660G (Trinity)

Thanks for the finding. Indeed mine was also found fglrx in
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-local.conf. Not sure how it happened, cos I
was upgrading from 11.04 > 11.10 > 12.04 > 14.04. Spent so much time to
figure out this problem! :)

Title:
fglrx DRI initialization fails on Radeon HD 7660G (Trinity)

Status in fglrx-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
After upgrading from Precise to Trusty, I can no longer activate
OpenGL desktop effects in KDE. Upon investigating, I find the
  following in the Xorg.log file:

[ 30.414] (EE) fglrx(0): atiddxDriScreenInit failed. Probably kernel module missing or incompatible.
  [ 30.414] (WW) fglrx(0): ***********************************************************

  glxinfo returns:

Major opcode of failed request: 157 (ATIFGLEXTENSION)
Minor opcode of failed request: 66 ()
Serial number of failed request: 13
Current serial number in output stream: 13

  and fglrxinfo returns:
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 157 (ATIFGLEXTENSION)
Minor opcode of failed request: 66 ()

Purging fglrx and fglrx-amdcccle and reinstalling the driver doesn't
fix anything. The previous driver on Ubuntu Precise worked fine (fglrx
  12.104, if I recall).
