Title:
[network-admin] loses wifi settings; corrupts /etc/network/interfaces
Status in “gnome-system-tools” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools
network-admin in gnome-system-tools 2.17.5-0ubuntu1 under Herd2 Feisty
Fawn (with all current updates)
Under the 'Settings for interface' dialog box, any changes made (to a
wireless connection) are lost and the connection (if already
connected) is disconnected.
Within approx 10 seconds (ie, it can not be pinpointed to the moment
the 'Settings for interface' dialog box is closed),
/etc/network/interfaces is re-written and reset to contain:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
restoring /etc/network/interfaces, and running /etc/init.d/networking
start restores network connectivity.
I only have one test system here, a Dell Inspiron 710 with an Intel
Pro 2200BG wifi card, but don't believe it a hardware issue.
bug can be re-produced, I can't comment if this effects ethernet
connections. happy to provide any additional information if required.
