I updated usb-modeswitch and tested it on my ZTE, Huawei, and Sierra
devices, but I don' t have a Huawei modem affected by the issues noted.
Could you please try it on your end and let me know if this works
appropriately for you?

  usb-modeswitch needs to be merged from Debian again:

  New upstream versions of usb-modeswitch (2.2.4 and 2.2.5) released 2
  months ago,  2.2.5+repack0-1 is packaged in Debian unstable/testing
  since July!

      Fixed bug in configuration check, possibly leading to segfault (thanks,
