  [Oneiric] Pauses and disappearing badges

Status in pidgin package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Hi,
    Pidgin on Oneiric has started doing two things that I think are related:

     1) A few second random pauses where it doesn't take keyboard input - this can be in the middle of typing
     2) One of the pidgin windows spends most of it's time in #ubuntu+1 and every so often the sherrifs badge for ChanServ disappears and the name pane on the right rearranges itself since there are no badges left; a few seconds later it comes back

  I think (1) happens while (2) is happening.
