[Bug 1506305] [NEW] eth0 suddenly lost and won't come back

Public bug reported:

Seems that network manager crashed on a Lenovo laptop. Nothing shows in
network manager panel expect "Enable networking"

Try toggling that and restart networking. Nothing. ifconfig only shows
loopback

Add this to /etc/network/interfaces:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

Restart networking service and it comes on.

Restart PC and the connection is gone again but the manager dropdown now
lists wlan and can connect on wlan as a workaround.

Still no eth0

** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
