Title:
Dim panel on idle not working correctly with Asus V6J
Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
When on AC power the panel is not dimming correctly. G-p-m
(apparently) just changes whole screen black without notifying acpi to
should down LCD display (or the backlight of it).
This causes a luminated black screen and temperature rise for some
reason: in idle conditions when screen is on, the temperature is
around 50C, but with the black screen it gets as high as 70C. It drops
instantly after the screen is returned from the mysterious black mode
On battery power, the screen is not dimming correctly either. It could
take the advantage of controlling /proc/acpi/asus/brn (lowering the
number) to make screen dim when not used, but instead it does the same
black screen effect as on AC power. However, the laptop screen
backlight goes off after some perioid of time, which doesn't happen on
AC power.
