  if i try:
  andymnc@andymnc-VPCEC1M1E:~$ sudo mtpfs /media/andymnc/SonyZ1/
  same answer.

If i activate USB-debug in developer option, following this info, with all the mtp calls with SUDO before, insthead of as per the following tutorial (and of course i changed the media mount point in the .bashrc):
  http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/12/how-to-connect-your-android-ice-cream-sandwich-phone-to-ubuntu-for-file-access/

if i try to mount on "media", i will receive an error because of no privileges on that directory.
If i try to mount on home/andymnc/SonyZ1 (so on the home of the user)

after quite 5 minutes of wait before having any response, i receive:
  andymnc@andymnc-VPCEC1M1E:~$ android-connect
Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.Listing raw device(s)
  Device 0 (VID=0fce and PID=519e) is UNKNOWN.

Now, i can see the folder SonyZ1 in my home, that it will be super slow on unity because mounting the "disk" on the fly.
Anyway at this point i can NOT copy/paste/delete files from and to the Z1 by terminal and gnomecommander too.
i can't also see subdirs via unity/nautilus because every double click on any folder will open the "SonyZ1" same folder like a loop.
In ANY case, i have to be ROOT (sudo) and i can not do any operations on files that i can only see
