Title:
proxy incorrectly handled, resulting in google address books not
loading
Status in “evolution-data-server” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: evolution-data-server
If you set an HTTP proxy in the system/preferences/network proxy
dialog box, but do not set https/ftp/socks proxies (empty strings,
zero ports, and do not tick "use the same proxy for all protocols",
then evolution data server will not be able to connect to things like
google addressbooks (which require https).
Ideally, e-d-s should detect empty strings and not set a proxy for
https, what would be acceptable would be to report the actual error
through to the user more effectively. Currently we get "Other error"
as the error for any issue with the google address book backend.
