Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu.  We provide updates for Firefox
in Ubuntu through the update-manager.  The current version in Ubuntu
10.10 is 3.6.22.  We'll probably be upgrading Ubuntu 10.10 to Firefox 7
next month.  If you want Firefox 6 in the mean time, you can use the
firefox-stable PPA (https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/firefox-
stable).  Please report any other issues you may find.

  im a newbie and running ubuntu 10.10  i keep going to the mozilla site
  for information but it seems im the only one with the proble.  i
  need/want to update my 3.6 browser to the most current.  the mozilla
  site says to click on the check for updates and I dont have that
  anywhere listed in any of the tabs
