I wasn't aware of the technical limitations.

Would you suggest that the best option is to just make the columns
smaller to have them then fit the window if split vertically?

Bug description:
  Dear all,

  I just found this problem that the columns (Name, Size, Type,
  Modified) don't resize if I change from full screen view into split
  pane view. Thus, I cannot see all columns properly.

  I gave my best to illustrate the problem in the attached screencast.

  I'm using nautilus on Ubuntu 15.10.

  Please let me know if I can provide you with more information.
