Message #14998
[Bug 848119] Re: Not usable on a server in DMZ
Hi Geir,
I'm glad one of the options I offered worked for you. I guess it was
designed precisely for the use case you describe. Since network policies
can vary, I guess no provisions were made for the case where even HTTP
would be blocked; in your case, SMTP would have worked but I can imagine
that on most DMZs that's also bound to be closed.
I'll close this report as Invalid as per comment #3.
Thanks again for your report!

Title:
Not usable on a server in DMZ
Status in “apport” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
ubuntu-bug seemes to require both a web browser and outgoing
connections on tcp port 80. With an Ubuntu server in a locked-down
DMZ, neither are lightly to be available, so reporting bugs on such
systems becomes cumbersome.
In our case, an option to report using SMTP would have worked nicely,
but as far as we can see, no such option exists.
