Title:
  Microphone not working

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Sound settings -> Input controls are grayed out. Alsamixer's mic is
unmuted yet I can't record anything from Internal mic or using
  earphone jack.

I tried upgrading kernel to 4.3 from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/ and it still doesn't work.

Willing to debug this. Just need some pointers.
