Title:
Desktop menubar should not have "open new tab"

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
The "open new tab" on the Desktop menubar should be made insensitive
  or removed.

Not only it only makes sense in a common Nautilus window, the result
when you click this item is disastrous: a new tab is opened in the
Desktop, and the tabs are hidden behind the panel.
