  I have selected "Norwegian" and "Norwegian Bokmål" as sole languages
  in System - Administration - Language support (this will install
  thunderbird-locale-nb-no although it is only a transitional package).
  Nevertheless, Thunderbird displays all menus in English. Tested with a
  fresh user profile. This issue seems to be experienced by many other
  users here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1973240

  The problem is that /usr/lib/thunderbird/extensions is a real
  directory on the system instead of a soft link to ../thunderbird-
  addons/extensions .

  Removing the thunderbird package and reinstalling it fixes the issue.

  So something goes wrong in the upgrade path.
