I stumbled into the typo and I noticed that it has recently fixed into master branch of modemmanager:

The fix was not backported into 1.4.x stable series so far, so this bug
will be really fixed when the next major series of modemmanager will be
released (or it can be closed marking it as solved upstream, I don't
know the policies here).
