Message #155069
[Bug 1530876] [NEW] texlive-latex-extra should depend on texlive-fonts-extra
Public bug reported:
This is not the same thing as bug 1225697 but it's closely related.
That bug is supposedly fixed in Debian, but (unless the Ubuntu packages
differ in a significant way) I doubt it.
The situation now is arguably worse, for the people that (like me)
weren't using particular features/fonts/styles in their documents, since
with the latest version of Ubuntu, it now suddenly fails to compile.
This is because packages like moderncv (which comes from texlive-latex-
extra) requires fontawesome (which come from texlive-fonts-extra), but
apt is not aware of this dependency.
(The best solution would be to have a more granular system rather than
huge texlive packages... I guess something like the new Nix Texlive
system:
https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/master/pkgs/tools/typesetting/tex
/texlive-new/default.nix#L1 )
