[Bug 1531647] Re: Dependency hell: "libgl1-mesa-dri-lts-vivid : Conflicts: libgl1-mesa-dri"
I was able to resolve this. I'm not entirely sure of the correct
sequence, but in case anyone else encounters this, I *think* it went
something like this:
$ sudo apt-get remove xorg # which also removed ubuntu-desktop
$ sudo aptitude install xserver-xorg # i rejected the first choice it gave me to resolve dependencies, and took the second, which in addition to installing several packages, also removed ubuntu-desktop{a} xfonts-scalable{u} xinput{u} xorg{a} xorg-docs-core{u} xserver-xorg-core-lts-vivid{a} xserver-xorg-input-evdev-lts-vivid{a} xserver-xorg-lts-vivid{a}
$ sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
$ sudo apt-get remove libgl1-mesa-dri-lts-vivid # also removes libegl1-mesa-lts-vivid libgbm1-lts-vivid libgl1-mesa-dri-lts-vivid libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-vivid libglapi-mesa-lts-vivid libllvm3.6 libwayland-egl1-mesa-lts-vivid
