To clarify, in your previous test of the nvidia driver from the Ubuntu
repositories, did you test https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-
graphics-drivers-352?

Title:
  ACER VN7-792G : No HDMI out

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  When I install the nvidia package, no HDMI output.
  In order it works I have to install the packages and the drivers from nvidia website NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-352.63.run
  Both have to be installed.
  If I unplugged the HDMI screen, I have to reboot in order it is detected again, unplug/replug doesn't activate it.
  If only the driver from nvidia no screen at all.
