[Bug 1526200] Re: Displayport screen goes back and forth in to Power save mode
Mikael Svensson, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.
As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-
support/product/precision-m3800-workstation/drivers/advanced an update
to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A10). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
does it change anything?
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.
Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.
Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Displayport screen goes back and forth in to Power save mode
Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I have 3 screens including the laptop screen. The one connected to the
displayport is going in to power save mode and back in random
intervalls. The other screens don't care if the displayport one is
going back and forth to power save mode like it does when you unplug
the displayport cable.
This started last week. I run the software updater last week.
I have seen old workarounds that say you should press ctr + alt + F6
but it does not fix the problem.
Turning of the hdmi screen in displays does not fix the problem.
Unplugging hdmi screen does not fix the problem
Unplugging and Plugin the displayport does not fix the problem.
The short time the displayport screen is on it flickers and there is
some static noise in a few pixels.
I will attach more information if you request it.
