Message #155593
[Bug 1532421] [NEW] nautilus doesn't display progress bar when formatting SD Card device
Public bug reported:
I right my SD Card and click format. In the Erase drop down, I choose
'Overwrite existing data with zeroes (Slow)' and when I press format, it
does format the device but I don't see any progress bar.
I have an indicator in the panel that shows 'Disk Read' so I know it's
doing something. I can also see in the process list that gnome-disks is
formatting the device, but I'm not sure why there's no GUI progress bar.
Having no progress bar is bad since if I format a big SD Card which will
take a long time, then a normal user won't know that the device is being
formatted already.
If I run gnome-disks alone and format the device using it, there is of
course a progress bar, so maybe the problem is that gnome-disks when run
with --format-device doesn't display a progress bar that nautilus can
accept?
Any pointers how this can be fixed, even in the code. Thanks.
