  Gedit unconditionally overwrites .config/gedit/accels

Status in gedit package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The file .config/gedit/accels used to contain a way to customize
keyboard settings for Gedit. In earlier versions, it used to be
possible to modify this file (for example so that Ctrl+PgUp/PgDn
switches between tabs, which would be consistent with Gnome Terminal).

In the current Gedit version available in Ubuntu 15.10, the file
.config/gedit/accels is always overwritten with clean defaults every
time Gedit starts. It is therefore no longer possible to use this file
to customize keyboard shortcuts. Also, the Ubuntu version of Gedit
does not come with any UI that make it possible to customize keyboard
shortcuts inside Gedit either. Hence, there is no easy way at all to
  customize keyboard shortcuts.

This was fixed in Gedit 3.12, ref

Unfortunately, Ubuntu 15.10 uses a rather antique version of Gedit,
  where this problem remains unfixed.

Since you've decided (for various good reasons, I'm sure) to bundle an
older Gedit, please consider backporting the fix referred to above.
