[Bug 1405084] Re: Scrolling takes 5 seconds holding down arrow key at 100% zoom
robegue, I'm not convinced we have an actionable issue here that needs
to be addressed via scheduling resource now. This is how to have a few
seconds in scrolling the attached picture is expected here.
Also, it matches the speed with which Office does the scrolling.
Hence, for now, this is a Won't Fix Wishlist request, focused only on
the attached document, pertaining to the underlying algorithms regarding
image presentation to be faster, more efficient, etc. which will be
addressed over time upstream.
If more information is presented that provides a materially new insight,
then this is a different matter, and the Status may be reconsidered.
Despite this, the discussion may still continue regarding this issue.
Thank you for submitting this report, and working together with me on
this.

Title:
Scrolling takes 5 seconds holding down arrow key at 100% zoom
Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
At 100% zoom, I count about 5 seconds to scroll from first to second
page by holding the arrow-down key. CPU is not occupied by any other
program.
At 180% zoom, I count about 18 seconds to scroll from first to second
page by holding the arrow-down key.
At 180% zoom, a two-pages text-only document takes less than 2 seconds
to scroll from first to second page by holding the arrow-down key.
It becomes faster (not much) when the same image covers a smaller
area.
From settings, I've tried to maximize the graphics memory, and to
enable/disable hardware acceleration and antialiasing, but it doesn't
help.
The problem persists in LibreOffice 4.3.5-rc2 from ubuntu PPA.
