Title:
frequency scaling applet frequency selection not working

Status in gnome-applets package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-applets

frequency scaling does not work. I have added two frequency scaling
applets, one for each core, and I wanted to set them to 2 GHz (intel
  core2 duo - 1.0 Ghz, 1.33, 1.67, 2 Ghz possible), No matter what step
I select, the 1 Ghz step is selected. The applet changes to
conservative, ondemand, performance and powersave if i click them, but
the it shows that the frequency is still 1 Ghz, and the overall
computer performance is poor. so after changing it once, I can not set
  it back to normal.
