Title:
  Microphones not capturing (ALC883)

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I have the soundcard

  00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High
  Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)

  on an Acer Aspire 5612.

  First of all, I must say  that only the input source number 1 goes in,
  number 2 is ignored. But, choose what you choose as number 1 (Mic or
  Front Mic), there is never a recording.

  It happens before and after installing the backports package for alsa.

  I tried adding "options snd-hda-intel model=acer", as a result I got
  more channels in the mixer, but no improvement for the capture.

  Regarding sound out, it works OK except for the first sound when
  starting a KDE session (and I get a notification saying device not
  working, but then the sound out works). Sound capture never works.

  (note: I tried to compile the latest version of alsa, with
  http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2010/05/02/upgrade-alsa-1-0-23-on-
  ubuntu-lucid-lynx-10-04/, but I still get the output above -version
  1.0-22-. Is it because it is using the files supplied by the backports
  package, or what?).
