Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that

allow cross pollination.

  using LibreOffice Calc via the Terminal:

  using Gnumeric via the Terminal:

  it displays the Russian characters correctly.

  4) What happens instead is it does not. For example one has
  "Äèñöèïëèíà" instead of "Дисциплина".

  WORKAROUND: Excel 2003 via WINE shows the correct characters.
