Title:
Confusing list when adding an unknown word to a dictionary
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
New
Status in “openoffice.org” package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
When adding a word that is not known by the OO.o Impress spell-checker to a dictionary, the list presented to the user is very confusing as it consists of the names of the .dic files without an explanation of what each of them is used for. See the attached screen shot for details. On a Maverick install, the list is:
* standard.doc
* soffice.dic
* Ubuntu.dic
* IgnoreAllList
Presumably, the second one only applies to OpenOffice.org itself while
the other ones may apply to other applications as well or to the whole
OS.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open OpenOffice.org Impress
2. Enter some misspelt text
3. Right-click on the misspelt word
4. Navigate to the Add sub-menu
Expected behaviour:
The list of options in the Add sub-menu clearly states what is the scope of each dictionary (OO.o Impress only, all of OO.o, all of Ubuntu) by providing a textual description rather than a file name.
Actual behaviour:
The in the Add sub-menu gives the user no clue as to what the difference is between the different dictionaries and whether adding it to one or the other will make any difference.
