  Inspiron 1545 does not suspend

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  When I boot the laptop and close the lid, the laptop does not suspend.
  When I run gnome-power-preferences the first time, it lacks the "On
  Battery Power" tab, only "On AC Power" and "General". But then when I
  close the lid, the laptop suspends as set in the preferences; running
  gnome-power-preferences again it shows all three tabs. If I restart,
  it again does not suspend, until I run gnome-power-preferences.
