[Bug 853187] Re: Renaming a file selects the whole filename
>it works as described there, do you get the issue on any file?
Happens with all files.
>1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter
the problem:
I don't think I did anything to cause this. Is there even an option to
change the behaviour? As far as I remember, it's been like that since I
installed Ubuntu 11.04.
>2. the behavior you expected
I expect it to do what is says in the Ubuntu website: When you rename a
file, only the first part of the name of the file is selected.
>3. the behavior you actually encountered
It just selects the whole file name, for all files. There's not much
else to it that I could describe in detail.

Title:
Renaming a file selects the whole filename
Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Ubuntu 11.04 (2.6.38-11-generic x86_64)
According to https://help.ubuntu.com/11.04/ubuntu-help/files-
rename.html , only the first part of a file, without the ending,
should be selected when pressing F2. In previous Ubuntu versions this
worked, but in 11.04 it keeps selecting the whole filename.
