Title:
Alcatel 3G modem: Network Manager times out before connection
Status in “modemmanager” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I see the following characteristic sequence of stuff in
/var/log/syslog. In it, the modem starts up nicely, then at 09:02:16,
pppd times out.
At that point, the modem is marked as invalid, and when I attempt to
reconnect at 09:02:34, it sees the "invalid" marking and doesn't even
give it a serious try.
So a time-out leads to an infinite sequence of failed attempts to
connect, because the system incorrectly thinks the modem is not valid.
The only solution seems to be to unplug the modem and re-plug it.
