[Bug 817023] Re: wireless vendors not in listing
Please provide all the details about the specific provider and
deal/options for this particular connection; including DNS information
and user/password if you have some for that Verizon connection (unless
of course it's *your own*, but it's usually something like 'user' /
'pass' ).
Thanks in advance!

provider-info (Ubuntu)

Title:
wireless vendors not in listing
Status in “mobile-broadband-provider-info” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
On Ubuntu/lucid when trying to setup a Verizon USB wireless air/card
connection on one of my older computers under NETWORK MANAGER, there
are only about 6 wireless ISP vendors listed in the available vendor
listing (Verizon is NOT listed).
If I try to setup a Verizon wireless connection under Lucid by
MANUALLY typing in the VERIZON vendor name and then adding the
connection parameters as provided by Verizon, the network connection
will NOT work. Always comes back with "GSM Network Disconnected".
On one of my newer computers using Lucid, sometimes the listing will
show maybe 15 to 20 ISP vendors and then on other occasions, it will
show/display only the first 6 vendors in the listing. On this newer
computer, sometimes there is a scroll bar on the right of the listing
window that can be used to scroll down to the vendors on the listing
after the first 6 or so, but on other occasions, there is NO scroll
bar to use to scroll down to the vendors after the first 6. All of
this problem is occuring on Lucid.
Like I said above on the older computer under Lucid the complete
listing of ISP vendors was never displayed. When I took Lucid off of
that computer and installed Natty instead from scratch, then the
complete listing of wireless ISP vendors is always available.
When I tried Nattay on both of my computers, ALL of the 15 to 20 ISP
vendors are on the listing including the lower ones on the listing can
ALWAYS be accessed by using the available scroll bar to scroll down to
the lower ones on the listing.
So apparently there is a problem/bug in Lucid as far as the proper
displaying of a complete listing of wireless ISP vendors but this
appears to have been fixed in Natty.
So my question is, if this has been fixed in Natty, why is the fix for
this not being seen in the Lucid version. YES, I have backports
checked.
Thanks.
