I'm sorry, I guess this won't be possible, since I don't recall which .deb files I tried to install back then. As far as I can remember it was ubuntu-tweak, which would make sense, one day after upgrading to natty. 
However, I think this bug is no longer valid, since I've been able to install all .deb packages since then, using software-center. Anyways, thanks for the (albeit somewhat late) reply.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: software-center

  I already tried several times to install a new .deb package using
  firefox to dl it. when queried where to save i said, open with
  software-center. they all downloaded fine into /tmp and software-
  center starts but gives back:

  Not Found.
  There is no application with the name "File:" in your current repositorys

  installing the file manually using gdebi works fine, so it's not the
  packages.
