[Bug 728525] Re: benchmark window is not descriptive enough
Update: based on the description and screenshot at
http://karuppuswamy.com/wordpress/2010/09/21/benchmark-how-to-know-your-
hard-disk-speed/ it appears that if you do ask to proceed with a write-
only check, if it then notices that there is a partition table, it
refuses to do the write test. So at least users aren't at risk, but it
would be much more helpful if this policy was clarified on the page, and
this information was given as soon as the user clicks on the initial
write-test button.

Title:
benchmark window is not descriptive enough
Status in “gnome-disk-utility” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility
This is a bug about Benchmark utility in gnome-dick-utility.
There is no warning / info if read / write tests are destructive or
safe to be used on a live system.
Green lines and dots at the bottom are confusing to the user and don't
tell the user what they mean.
Also , It would be awesome if there was some way that this info could be sent back to some database at ubuntu and users can see and compare what other users are getting..
