Title:
  Regression: Macbook Pro 3,1 screen brightness hotkeys don't work

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  The screen brightness hotkeys on my MacBook 3,1 do not adjust the
  backlight's brightness. This is a regression from 11.04. I have a USB
  "Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad" w/ dedicated function keys for
  screen brightness. These also stopped working.

  The kernel seems to be fine; I can adjust screen brightness from the command line:
  $ echo 7 | sudo tee /sys/class/backlight/apple_backlight/brightness

  This is similar to bug 849110 about keyboard brightness hotkeys (not
  to be confused with screen brightness hotkeys), which I've also
  encountered.

  The volume up/down/mute hotkeys on this keyboard do continue to
  function properly.
