Title:
  Screen won't turn back on after being turned off due to inactivity
  (System Settings -> Screen)

Status in “gnome-screensaver” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Netbook: HP Mini 1120NR

  After the screen is automatically turned off due to inactivity I am
  unable to get it to turn back on. Moving the mouse, clicking, and
  tapping keys do not turn the screen back on as expected. This is quite
  disheartening since the HP Mini 1120NR originally shipped with Ubuntu
  pre-loaded.

  I know the system is up and running since I can login via SSH from
  remote. To get the screen back I have to cold reboot; I press the
  front power button and blindly hit Enter to select Shut Down (trying
  to reboot from remote via SSH results in a frozen system).
