I was surprised after switching from vinagre to vncviewer!
On vinagre very high cpu load, but on vncviewer about 10-20%
(vncviewer -bgr233 -compresslevel 9 -quality 1 -encodings "tight"). remote vnc server - VINO.

Bug description:
  When connected to another machine (hardy was tested, Remote desktop
  enabled), CPU usage jumps to 90 - 100% on machine viewing machine
  running vinagre.

  CPU usage in vinagre is fine until the connection is established and
  the remote desktop is being drawn. This did not happen but was OK
  under gutsy with tsclient, but in hardy VNC support has been pulled by
  default.
