Can you still reproduce this? I have just tried to reproduce this on Natty, and was unable to, as Alt+Return brings up the Image properties dialog, and does not seem to affect the fullscreen functionality.

  EOG goes into full screen mode in two different ways: by F11 and by
  Alt + Return. And when I hit F11, and then Alt + Return, I get this:
