[Bug 862474] Re: Backlight control for "dell_backlight" is missing in gsd-backlight-helper
Thank you for the fix, backlight control from the keyboard works fine
without that on a latitude e6410 there but the change seems same and if
it fixes the control on other models we should get it in oneiric

Bug description:
Hi,
Since a quite a while backlight management on my notebook (Dell
Latitude D830) is quite broken. It started when a patch to manage the
backlight in the kernel intel-driver was introduced.
Here is the deal:
My notebook normally uses the kernel interface "dell_backlight". This
worked perfectly until the above patch was introduced. New gsd-
backlight-helper chooses "intel_backlight" as the standard interface.
When using this, i can still control the backlight but because
"intel_backlight" assumes 255 steps instead of the correct 7 steps of
"dell_backlight", "gnome-settings-daemon" can't correctly set and get
the values.
After patching the file "gsd-backlight-helper.c" (Adding
"dell_backlight as an additional kernel-interface) the backlight
management is back to normal. Please see the attachment for more
details.
