Title:
Always On Top ignored for all windows when Top'd window opens a
subwindow
Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: metacity
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Metacity 2.30.1-0ubuntu
When Always On Top is set for a window, and the window opens a
subwindow (such as preferences or a file chooser), the always on top
setting is temporarily ignored for all windows.
What I expected: Windows with Top marked would remain on top when non-
Top'd window gains focus regardless of subwindow.
What happened: All windows with Top marked fell behind when window
gained focus, even windows that had no subwindow open.
Reproduce:
Open three applications (I used gedit, totem, and pidgin)
Mark two windows as Always On Top (I used gedit and totem)
Open a subwindow in one of the Top windows (I used open file and preferences in both totem and gedit - all four work)
Click into the third, non-Top'd application
The third application will raise above all windows, including Top windows
If you click back into the Top'd window that has not opened the
subwindow, then click into the non-Top'd window, the Top'd window
remains on top.
If you click back into the Top'd window that has opened the subwindow,
then click into the non-Top'd window, the Top'd window falls behind.
