I have been having the same problem and no apport report is produced
either.

This scroll issue happens in both the preview pane and when you open the
email. The latter seems to be more reliable, but if it is a very large
email, it will still crash Evolution.

I recently did a fresh install onto a newer, much faster machine. The
problem is still present.
