the bug, feel free to open new bugs about other issues you might find
though

Title:
gnome-sound-properties previews sounds it can't play
Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
This is under Jaunty Beta, AMD64 on a macbook pro 5,1.
It is possible to select a sound under gnome sound properties that the
system cannot play. To demonstrate, create a sound file in your home
directory. Select that file under an event, such as empty trash. The
preview should work and play the file as normal. However, when the
event fires, it will not play.
This can be resolved by creating a link to the file in the
/usr/share/sounds directory and selecting that file instead. My
suspicion is that it is a permissions issue, but I can't for the life
of me figure our how it can play a root file but not a user file.
The result of this is that the user will select a custom file and the
default file will play instead, thus generating a bug report.
