[Bug 809314] [NEW] complete break my system without any warning
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
In Ubuntu natty:
I click in jockey to enable fglrx and it completely destroyed my system without any warning.
It was because fglrx package conflicts with package libgl1-mesa-glx. On this library depend a lot of packages, so by clicking
to enable fglrx, jockey utility call dpkg with this parameters: /usr/bin/dpkg --force-confnew --status-fd 37 --force-depends --force-remove-essential --remove [list of 114 packages!!!]
(I already report problem to authors of fglrx package too. This
conflicting library is possible bug too, because in original packages
from ATI there's no conflict with this package.)
It compeltely removed KDE, kdm and lot of other packages WITHOUT ANY WARNING what is doing.
This is serious and wery dangerous bug. It is not possible to uninstal about half of system without any word about it. :-)
** Affects: jockey (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Invalid
