Bug description:
  I opened 
  Preferences -> Edit -> Selected to use spaces instead of tabs.
  Then I tried to change the number of spaces for tab and noticed it wasn't responding
  gedit went gray yet the preferences dialog didn't, but neater it was responding.
  Then gedit closed/crashed and the report dialog was prompted.
