I can't confirm that. Oneiric does not include the scim package by default, installing it completely disables quick find in every applications. 

The reported issue only affects nautilus, everything else is working as
intended.

  After a few key presses the text input on the bottom disappears, and
  the quick search is not working anymore. Works well in any other
  applications I use.
