[Bug 871166] Re: sierra aircard 320u fails to connect
That device is erroring out at registration. Are you sure there is enough signal for it to be activating (sorry, just making sure ;)

Otherwise it might be because the device itself isn't quite supported.
To know for you, we'll need more information. Please follow the steps at
http://live.gnome.org/NetworkManager/Debugging (in the section
"Debugging NetworkManager 0.8 and 0.9 3G connections") and attach the
debug logs from ModemManager to this bug report. Thanks in advance!

the card initially isn't picked up until you update the sierra modules
