Title:
timestamps do not honor system locale settings

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: empathy

  the title explains it all:
in Empathy on Ubuntu 10.10, the message timestamps in the conversation window do not show in the correct format.
My system time is set to 24h display, since i'm in Germany, Europe. The timestamps in the conversation window yet do not honor that setting, which should have global relevance.
