Title:
gedit - editing non-editable files
Status in “gedit” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gedit
If I open a (python '.py') file in gedit that is already opened in another gedit window and I select "Don't edit", then I can't edit it, but I can still enter new lines in every line, except where the first character of a line is '#' - comment.
If a comment '#' sing is shifted to the right, then I can add new lines as well.
How to reproduce:
1. open a python file in gedit window
2. open the same python file in another gedit window
3. when gedit asks if you want to edit the file or not: click "Don't edit"
4. press Enter in a line in which the first character isn't '#'
what happens:
new line is added
what should happen:
gedit shouldn't add a new line
Both, me and my friend installed Ubuntu 10.10 with upgrading from
10.04 (not a fresh install) but my friend can't reproduce this on his
computer.
regards,
Aleš
